Waste not Want not Challenge
Be a Part of the Solution
The Waste Not Want Not Challenge is part of the EU’s Waste Not Want Not Project, aimed at helping schools reduce waste and fight climate change. Schools are invited to take part in the Challenge to:
- Conduct waste audits and assess current practices.
- Create projects to reduce food and plastic waste.
- Share success stories with other schools across Europe.
Inspired by initiatives like Vienna’s Water School Campaign, which saves 18.4 million plastic bottles annually, the Challenge encourages schools to take similar actions.
Why Now?
Reducing food and plastic waste is crucial for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and conserving resources. Schools play a key role in leading sustainability efforts and educating future generations.
How to Participate:
- Conduct a Food Waste Audit / Plastic Waste Audit and create an Action Plan with students, schol staff, and parents.
- Browse our What Works Well resources to explore examples of projects that you run to engage pupils in your school
- Implement changes and share successes online and within your school to inspire others.
